Finances

Each Pioneer is responsible to raise his or her own funds for the expenses of travel for the summer internship. Each team travels to a different field of service, so the financial requirements will vary for each team.

Domestic Travel

Domestic travelers are driving anywhere from the south region, all the way to thePacific Northwest. Obviously, travel costs will be different depending on where the team travels.

A general figure given to each man traveling in the U.S. for the summer internship is:
$1,500-$1,700 -This includes travel, food and lodging

A general figure given to each lady traveling in the U.S. for the summer internship is:
$1,300-$1,500 -This includes travel, food and lodging

International Travel

International travelers are headed to every continent. Each team is responsible to pay for their own roundtrip airfare to their specified country. Since these costs vary tremendously, we do not include the airfare cost in their support figure.

A general figure given to all international travelers is:
$1,000-$1,500 Available funds after purchasing airline tickets- This amount includes in-country travel, food and lodging

*The figures given above do not include costs for souvenirs, optional tourism fees, a Passport, visa fees or needed immunizations.

Sharing Travel Costs: Domestic Travel

Fuel prices are predicted to reach or exceed $3.00 per gallon by the peak of the summer travel season. Because of high gas prices and the various maintenance costs of the vehicle used, each team member will be responsible to pay equal amount for fuel and maintenance costs on the vehicle (oil changes, air filters, etc.). However, auto insurance costs and the wear and tear costs on the vehicle are not shared by all team members; these remain the responsibility of the vehicle owner/operator. We have found by experience that this arrangement is best for all parties involved.
