New Testament Church Pioneer Approval Requirements

Prayer is the deciding factor in who is chosen to travel as a Pioneer and who each person will travel with. The Pioneer staff prayerfully considers each applicant and seeks God's wisdom to make the decisions regarding each student.

Each Pioneer has been personally interviewed by the staff directors and has been approved to travel because they have met the following requirements:

Academic

Character is revealed not only by manners and speech, but also by academic discipline. The applicant must have a cumulative minimum of a 2.0 grade point average. The applicant must also show aptitude in academic study and preparation, and he or she must exhibit a teachable spirit that reveals a desire to learn.

Behavioral

The applicant must have a good report among both his superiors and his peers. Reputation, it has been said, is the shadow of the tree; therefore a peerless reputation for character, honesty and a strong work ethic must be met in order for one to be approved to travel. The applicant may not exceed fifty demerits accumulated during the semester prior to travel.

Financial

Each Pioneer must have the balance of their college bill paid before they travel for the summer. As the student attempts to raise support for his summer mission, he must always be aware that his first obligation is to care for the school bill which he has already committed to pay. Student loans or family loans have been used in the past to allow the student to travel.

Ministerial

New Testament Church Pioneers are sent out each summer to serve in local churches. Assisting Pastors and Missionaries requires the spirit of a servant. Before a student is ever approved to be a Pioneer, he or she must have established a reputation among the staff and their colleagues as someone vitally involved in a local church ministry. A summer Pioneering trip does not instill an ability to serve, it simply reveals and enhances it. Before ever leaving the student must be a sincere laborer in a ministry of the local church.
