Training Camp
Early mornings...filled days...and late nights! Training week is cram-packed with hands-on experience that helps to break the mold people are tied-up in and allows flexibility. Enthusiasm is a requirement! If Pioneers don't have enough of it when they start the week, they will be saturated in it by the end of the week. Every Pioneer will see an increase in wisdom, knowledge, and vision if they allow Jesus Christ to have free reign in their lives.
Mornings
After rising and shining at 6:00 a.m. and exercising and running for 20-30 minutes, every Pioneer is ready to eat. Each morning is a cold breakfast: something quick to start the day (pop-tarts, muffins, fresh fruit, cereal, chocolate milk, juice, milk, etc.). Everyone sits and converses as they inhale their food. Quick! The first session starts at 8 am sharp!
Afternoons
Sessions of lecturing: watching leaders conduct Bible clubs, teach fun tricks, and object lessons with volunteer cooperation have been going on since 8 am. It is now lunchtime! Sandwiches and chips and a variety of other meals are made available throughout the week and prepared by volunteers from Temple Baptist. The afternoon is spent in the community doing the things that the Pioneers were trained to do. Sessions are sporadic to make sure no time is wasted. Many guest speakers speak on everything from etiquette to how to maintain your car.
Evenings
After a satisfying dinner, the Pioneers make their way to the tabernacle. Throughout the week each Pioneer preacher gets his opportunity to preach for five minutes, girls get to sing, and the young men also lead songs. Usually a special guest speaker has something to share from God's Word to encourage the Pioneers. Everyone has about 25 minutes to settle down before lights out. Many talk of the day that the Lord blessed and what they learned. The next day is anticipated with excitement and wonder of the unknown.
Pioneers will learn how to have proper etiquette, change a tire, use CPR, avoid speed traps, read maps, witness to Muslims and Mormons, the meanings behind many cults. At the end they will have a notebook filled with information gleaned in 60+ hours from 20+ different speakers.
The last day is spent relaxing and swimming with some water-slide action! Everyone gets their cars packed and cleaned up. There is not a dull moment and everyone feels like family when the week is completed.
